Ampacet SLIP SCAVENGER 1540 has been selected as a finalist for Product Technology Innovation of the Year in Plastics Recycling Awards Europe 2026. This next generation slip control masterbatch is engineered specifically for flexible packaging using post-consumer recycled (PCR) polyethylene and is part of Ampacet’s R3 Sustainable Solutions portfolio.
Award winners will be announced May 6 at the Plastics Recycling Show Europe (PRSE) in Amsterdam. Ampacet will be exhibiting in Booth L70.
With the European Union’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) now in effect, in addition to the Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUP), plastic packaging must incorporate increasing levels of PCR. While this directive supports circular economy goals, adding post-consumer recycled polyethylene (rPE) can impact slip properties, causing machinability issues and an inconsistent coefficient of friction (COF). High slip additive levels from variable PCR sources can make films too slippery, especially in demanding applications where stack stability matters.
SLIP SCAVENGER 1540 addresses these issues by effectively capturing migrating slip additive molecules during pelletizing or when blending high slip rPE into new films. The result is better control over slip performance, fewer converting issues, optimized COF and higher PCR incorporation, which helps processors meet PPWR targets without sacrificing quality or efficiency.
