Primary Function:

As an Injection Molding Manager, you will be immersed in all aspects of the mainstream business becoming the driving force of the business and taking ownership by exploring all possible avenues and approaches to increase profitability and market share. Must organize and direct all of the necessary facets of the injection molding business unit to insure the added growth of $10 million within 5 years, as well as long-term profit viability. Develop short and long-term strategic plans, which include the entry into new markets. Work closely with sales, technical and manufacturing departments, along with key customers to identify industry trends, and develop internal programs to meet market demands and bridge identified gaps.

Responsibilities:

  • Create short and long-term strategic plans to maximize long-term profits and market position to ensure $ 10 MM of revenue growth within 5 years.
  • Establish strategic pricing, propose and coordinate R&D activities for new product developments and direct promotional activities for the engineered thermoplastic (ETP) market, including the performance blacks, the medical market, and other strategic markets.
  • Prepare sales and expense budgets annually for the assigned business.
  • Liaise with sales management in preparing written key account strategies developed in the strategic plan.
  • Obtain and monitor market intelligence relating to Ampacet’s market position, key account trends, and competitive conditions.
  • Direct the sales activities through sales management channels at key accounts requiring a concentrated commercial, technical or product focus to achieve and sustain a high level of penetration.
  • Visit current and new accounts with field sales to sustain, improve or initiate sales positions. Exploit opportunities, negotiate major sales contracts, introduce new products and solicit product needs.
  • Actively participate in representing Ampacet at trade shows and trade association meetings.
  • Identify new customers, develop relationships with key decision makers, introduce Ampacet’s small color and engineering black production capabilities, and travel to customers to make business presentations.
  • Establish relationships with industry end users in order to understand requirements necessary to penetrate the injection molding customer base for non-automotive application.
  • Work closely with technical and manufacturing to identify requirements and recommend changes needed to better service the injection molding customer base.
  • Explore niche opportunities to grow the business in newly identified Injection Molding Market.
  • Update computer database and effectively communicate progress
  • Strong understanding of customer products and process capabilities to allow value-added selling.
  • Assist in developing a sales strategy to grow the custom color injection molding business to meet growth goals and support the Heath, OH custom color plant.
  • Establish relationships with targeted OEM specifiers to ensure awareness of Ampacet and our services. Work with our molding customers to achieve specifications for Ampacet colors at these end-use accounts.
  • Manage the color development process (color matching, sample fulfillment and color standard management) and commercialization of new products at specified accounts, while utilizing Ampacet’s current Sales and Marketing personnel for support at the molder level.
  • Visit the Corporate Headquarters and key plant locations of each assigned strategic account as deemed necessary to secure and/or service these accounts; develop a rapport with key decision makers to further develop the present business and gain insight into potential future business. Visit select customers with or without sales personnel / sales management as required to optimize business at designated key and target accounts.
  • Participate actively as a member of the Blow Molding Task Force in providing ongoing market and customer information as to the needs and progress at assigned accounts.
  • Assist the Strategic Business Manager (SBM), with developing annual sales and marketing goals and objectives for assigned accounts and market segments.
  • Develop action plans resulting in the achievement of the budget objectives. Provide monthly status reports for the SBM - Molding. Review actual sales and expense performance versus budget and recommend corrective action as needed.
  • Work with Ampacet’s Global Accounts Group to coordinate global projects within targeted OEM accounts
  • Maintain awareness of market and competitors activities at assigned accounts and disseminate the information throughout the organization as needed. Continually improve personal knowledge of the latest sales techniques as well as enhance expertise in technical aspects of the products sold. Develop a thorough understanding of the Injection Molding market in terms of competition, market segmentation and needs for assigned accounts.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree plus a minimum of 10 years’ plastics industry experience. Experience with engineered resins, the injection molding process, and/or new market development outside of packaging is preferred.
  • Excellent business acumen, communication skills and with strong track record of developing business relationships with the necessary departments and levels within the customer’s organization
  • Proficiency with developing strategic plans and successfully implementing initiatives for specific markets and customers.
  • Proficient negotiator - experienced negotiating terms of business contracts
  • Must be a self-starter with strong leaderships skills and prior experience managing direct reports
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Able to travel up to 50% of the time with some international travel in Canada and Mexico
  • Proficient with identifying new markets and understands how to work through barriers to penetrate these markets

This position is located at Ampacet’s Cincinnati, Ohio office. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
